Lifeweft Privacy Policy

Lifeweft is a private life journal and planning app developed and operated in New Zealand by Jamie Craig. This policy explains what information Lifeweft handles, where it goes and the choices you have.

The short version

Lifeweft is a private journal. I don’t run a Lifeweft server, and I don’t collect, see, sell or share your journal or any personal data. There is no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.

Your journal

Your entries, photos, files and settings are stored on your device. If you use iCloud, they sync through your own private iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit. Only you, through your Apple ID, can access that data. I cannot read it.

Weather (optional, off until you turn it on)

Lifeweft can show the weather on Today. To do this it sends coordinates to Apple Weather (WeatherKit), taken from your approximate location while you’re using the app, or from a home place you choose. Lifeweft doesn’t save these coordinates in your journal. Location is used for weather only.

Health (optional, off until you turn it on)

Lifeweft can read workouts, active energy, exercise minutes, steps, sleep and alcoholic drinks from Apple Health to show a card on Today. Lifeweft only reads Health. It never writes to it. This data stays on your device and is never sent to me or to anyone else. If you choose to keep a workout or health summary as a journal entry, it is stored like any other entry, including in your iCloud if you use it.

Voice notes

Voice notes are turned into text and sorted on your device, using Apple’s on-device speech recognition and, where available, Apple Intelligence. Audio isn’t sent to me. Recordings are deleted after you keep a note, unless you turn on Keep voice note audio in Settings. Voice notes recorded on Apple Watch are sent to your iPhone.

Listen, music and places

If you use Listen, audio is matched by Apple’s Shazam service. Music lookups use Apple Music and the iTunes Search service, and place search uses Apple Maps. These requests are handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy.

Links and previews

If you add a YouTube, Spotify or IMDb link, Lifeweft loads a preview or embed from that service when you view it. That service may receive your device’s IP address and set cookies, under its own privacy policy. This only happens for links you add.

Purchases

Purchases and Restore Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. I don’t see your payment details.

Notifications

Reminders are created on your device. Lifeweft doesn’t send you marketing notifications.

App Lock

App Lock uses Face ID or your passcode on your device; Lifeweft never receives biometric data.

Children

Lifeweft isn’t directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.

Deleting your data

Delete entries in the app, or delete the app to remove local data. To remove iCloud data, go to Settings, then your name, then iCloud, then Manage Storage on your device.

The Lifeweft website

The website does not use advertising trackers or analytics and does not ask you to create an account. It is delivered by Cloudflare, which may process technical information such as IP addresses, browser details and request logs to deliver and protect the site. If you email for support, your message and address are used to answer you and retained only as reasonably needed for support and record-keeping.

Your choices and New Zealand privacy rights

You can access, correct and delete your Lifeweft entries from the app. Because I cannot access your private iCloud library, I cannot retrieve or edit that content for you.

If you contact me directly, you may ask to access or correct personal information I hold about that correspondence. You may also make a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. This policy is intended to meet the transparency requirements of New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020.

Changes

If this policy changes, I’ll update the date above.
